Activities to enjoy or grab in the Library
We are open our normal hours for browsing and reading in the Library. There are computers available in the Children’s Department on a first come, first served basis. In addition to all of that, we are doing several ongoing activities for you to enjoy whenever you pop in!
All Summer Long:
- Escape Room Kits: Check out an escape room kit with its new zoo story! Help the zookeeper find all of the animals and recover the missing key. Click here to see if there is one available today.
- I Spy (throughout department): Each week we change the location of things you need to find and you can receive a prize!
- I Spy (tabletop): We will have a tabletop I Spy challenge and you will have to find different animals on it each week! This activity is sponsored by the Friends of the Newport Public Library.
- Terrific Tail Tournament: Each week of the Summer Reading Challenge you can vote for your favorite animal’s TAIL! Let’s see which tail comes out on top!
Summer Reading is for the whole family!
Teens can check out our Teen Summer Reading Program!
Parents can join in on the fun with our Adult Summer Reading Program!
The statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading program is supported by the RI Office of Library and Information Services, with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Local support is provided by the Newport Public Library, the Friends of the Newport Public Library and the City of Newport.
Thank you to Riverhead Building Supply for providing supplies to help us decorate the Children’s Department.
