Each week, from January 3rd until April 16th, the Children’s Department will be celebrating a different geometric shape with window displays and an activity. This early literacy initiative is designed to aid in the development of Shape Knowledge, which helps children identify and organize visual information, as well as learn skills that help them with reading, math, and science. This initiative further helps Letter Knowledge as children familiarize themselves with the shapes that make up the letters of the alphabet. Shape of the Week activities also aim to promote the development of fine motor skills!
Patrons simply stop by the Children’s Desk and ask for that week’s shape activity or craft.
Help us celebrate shape recognition!
