Websites with Booklists

We continue to add to this list as new and useful sites come to our attention. Feel free to share any you think would make good additions. Enjoy!

The American Library Association, in conjunction with the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), has come up with the 2019 Best of the Best YA Fiction book lists! Also included are shorter Top 10 lists for fiction, audiobooks, graphic novels, and more!

  • 2019 Top Ten Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers
  • National Award Winners
  • Rhode Island Teen Book Award Winners

Epic Reads provides us with a list of YA books slated to be movies in 2020.  As they say “We have a few universally accepted truths in this world. Water is wet. Puppies are cute. The book is almost always better than the movie.
Of course, just because the book is better, that doesn’t mean you should completely skip the movie.” So, check out their list and decide what you want to read.

Book for Guys from Goodreads.   Goodreads is a database in which readers, not publishers or teachers or librarians, review and rate books.  It’s free to join or you can just browse through their lists.  This is a list of books voted most likely to be liked by “guys”.  If your son, student, buddy… is a tough sell on books, this might be a great place to start.

Great Graphics for 2020 from YALSA (see above) – the non-fiction list is first and you can scroll down for the fiction list.  You can also get the lists for previous years.  Goodreads (see aboven) also provides us with a list of Great Graphic Novels.

Reading Rants! is full of out of the ordinary teen book reviews.

What Should I Read Next? is a book recommending website that is pure fun. Type in the title of the latest book you read and loved, and up pops a list of similar books. If you’re into making lists, this site’s addictive.

Whichbook is a site that picks books based on your current mood. Are you optimistic or pessimistic right now? Want loads of sex in your next steamy read, or very little, or none? Move the scale, click “GO” and Whichbook comes up with ideas!
