The Teen Summer Reading Program at the Newport Public Library is for teens entering Grades 6-12 or recent graduates.
How to Participate:
Sign up online (via Beanstack) OR in person anytime between June 22nd and up until August 14th. To sign up in person, visit the Teen Desk at Newport Public Library and receive a Summer Reading Starter Pack!
Complete any of the 8 activities to earn points. Each activity earns you 1 point. Activities can be repeated as often as you would like.*
Activities:
- Read a book or listen to an audiobook for 20 minutes
- Attend a Library program
- Invite a friend to the Library
- Submit a Bookmark Contest entry (*one entry per teen*)
- Leave a positive message or drawing on our chalk columns
- Complete the weekly challenge (*once per week*)
- Complete a Take & Make craft (*once per month*)
- Work on the teen puzzle
Prizes!
- “Summer Reading Starter Pack” – The SRP Starter Pack will include a tote bag or drawstring bag, your choice of FREE book from our selection, and a Bananasaurus Raffle Ticket
- 5 points – Sticker & 1 Grand Prize Raffle Ticket
- 10 points – Enamel Pin & 2 Grand Prize Raffle Tickets
- 15 points – Fidget & 3 Grand Prize Raffle Tickets
- 20 points – Gift Card & 4 Grand Prize Raffle Tickets

Bananasaurus:
Every teen who registers will be entered into the Bananasaurus Raffle! The winner will be able to take Potassium home at the end of the summer.
(That’s Potassium, the Bananasaurus.)
*The raffle drawing for the grand prizes and the bananasaurus will be August 15th. If the prize is not claimed within one week, we will draw another name. Prizes must be picked up in-person at the Library.*
