Activities to enjoy all summer long:

  • Escape Room Kits: Check out an escape room kit with one of our new stories! Click here to see if there is one available today.
    • Classic Kit: Danger at the Dig An elite team of top archaeologists have just made the dino-mite discovery of Sue the T-rex, but Sue’s skull has been stolen! Can you solve all the puzzles, decipher all the codes, and embark on the Jurassic journey to save Sue?
    • Challenger Kit: Escape Loch Ness Your relaxing vacation to the Scottish Highlands has become positively monstrous! Can you crack beastly puzzles, decode all the slippery ciphers, and escape Loch Ness?
  • I Spy (throughout department): Each week we change the location of things you need to find and you can receive a prize!
  • Spot It! (tabletop): We will have a Spot It challenge and you will have to find different things on it each week! This activity is sponsored by the Friends of the Newport Public Library.
  • Munch Madness Tournament: It’s herbivores vs. carnivores in our battle of prehistoric creatures!  Which will be Newport’s favorite: T. Rex or Stegosaurus? Megalodon or Brachiosaurus? Triceratops or Spinosaurus? You decide! Vote between pairs of prehistoric animals each week until the favorite is crowned.
  • Weekly Passives: Each week of summer reading will feature a different activity that may be enjoyed anytime the Library is open including movement dice, magnet sorting, dino egg matching, tic-tac-toe, pattern blocks, fossil color matching and more.
