NPL and Newport Art Museum team up for Teens
We’re teaming up!
FREE Take & Make Art Kits for Teens at Newport Library
Inspired by The Newport Biennial at the Newport Art Museum
CREATE! Together we’ve created Free Fantastical Mask Art Kits for teens inspired by artwork currently on view in The Newport Biennial exhibition at the Museum. Each Take & Make Art Kit comes with all the materials needed to make a fantastical mask for your wall, plus a FREE PASS to the Museum good for 2 adults (kids to age 17 are free) to see the exhibition in person!
LEARN!
Want to learn more? The Library has created a display of books related to art making ideas and techniques seen in the exhibitions, so you can read up on topics touched on in the galleries.
VISIT!
As an Institutional Member of the Newport Art Museum, the Newport Public Library has 2 Membership cards to the Museum that can be taken out and used for free admission ANYTIME! Each card is good for 2 adults (kids to age 17 are free). They’re popular – reserve in advance by calling the Library.
Fantastical Mask Art Kits will be available in the Young Adult Department at the Library beginning Tuesday, March 29.

Arc Book Club (for teens)!
Advance Readers Copies Book Club (ARC) is not like any book club you’ve been to before. ARC gives you access to the hottest young adult titles before they’re published! Members munch on snacks while choosing from a variety of pre-published novels to take home, read and review!
Then, once each month, we come together to talk about what you read, eat MORE snacks and, of course, grab another pre-published title!
Want to join us this month, but don’t have an ARC book? Come on in and grab one. We currently have advanced copies through June!
Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger
First Chapter Friday – Pumpkin by Julie Murphy
Waylon Russell Brewer is a fat, openly gay boy stuck in the small West Texas town of Clover City. After graduation he plans to move to Austin with his twin sister, Clementine, and finally live his truth. Throwing caution to the wind he creates an audition tape for his favorite TV drag show, Fiercest of Them All. What he doesn’t count on is the tape accidentally getting shared with the entire school– and being nominated for prom queen as a joke.
Reading for Treats!
Uninterrupted reading time, every Monday at 4:30 pm! Why? Because life is crazy and reading is a great escape! There is no required reading material. BYOR(eading) – books, magazines even audiobooks – and curl up in one of our cozy booths to read for treats. Homework counts too! Show up, relax and get the week off to a good start!
